Nate's Boxscores

there was one team in the lower half of the District 1 Class AAAA playoff bracket that Downingtown East may have least liked to see in the first round, it may well have been Owen J. Roberts. Well, the loss to West Chester Henderson last Friday set that matchup up, and while the Cougars will be ultra-motivated after the loss and very prepared, the Wildcats boast arguably the best running game in the district. Ryan Brumfield, OJR's senior running back, has 2,548 yards and 34 touchdowns on the ground. As a team the Wildcats run for 354.8 yards per game, which spells potential trouble for East who gives up 153.5 per game on the ground.

o No running back or receiver scored in every game this regular season, but Coatesville's Kyle Kerrick and West Chester Rustin's Anthony Nash both have nine-game TD streaks rolling into the postseason. Kerrick caught just one pass for two yards in the season-opening loss to Ridley, but has since scored 11 times. Nash grabbed three for 97 in Week 1 without a score, and has rattled off 14 scores since.

o Only eight teams in District 1 Class AAAA scored more points per game than Conestoga, who averaged 31.1. Finishing ninth out of 45 did not get the Pioneers into the playoffs however, largely in part their rank of 33rd in points allowed. 'Stoga is the only team in the area with a running back, quarterback and receiver in the top four of their respective stat category. Blair Brooks is second with 1,486 rushing yards, Dexter Bridge led all receivers with 55 catches and Billy Flatley's 134.4 rating is good for fourth.
